Bethany and Ryan’s 70s inspired engagement session proved to be very popular and well loved by many - for good reason because these two are AMAZING. Well, get yourselves ready for their incredibly hip, fun and cool wedding at The Ellis Building! Every single part of their day was infused with their personalities and I can’t wait for you all to scroll through their images. Ryan and his boys got ready in their apartment that is charmingly decorated with a lot of his own artwork and quirky pieces. Tequila shots were had, bolo ties were given and fake teeth were put in….for Ryan’s alter ego, Tanner. When you see it, you’ll know what I mean. When they were done, the boys left and the apartment welcomed the cutest bride in the world, Bethany. Some of the same events unfolded for the girls, like the tequila shots, but no fake teeth.

We headed to the Ellis Building which has been a venue I’ve been dying to shoot at since I visited for a networking event. I just about screamed when B+R informed me they booked the Ellis for their wedding! It is the absolute perfect space for these two due to its artsy, rustic and urban feel. They decorated the space with some greenery and it was all that was needed. The ceremony was conducted by Beth from Young Hip and Married and they made it so much fun! As you can see, lots of laughs and smiling faces from everyone present.

I don’t know how we/they got so lucky, but the mural we took portraits outside of the Ellis Building was done by one of their friends who has done a lot of their tattoos, Ali T. Bruce! Everything just came together so perfectly. Fate. Meant to be. You name it. We wandered around the city for some portraits with the couple and we created some of my favourite portraits to date. It doesn’t really matter what kind of backdrop you have, all you need is good light and a good couple. The rest of the evening was spent eating tacos from Tacofino, mingling, drinking margaritas and a super fun and playful first dance. When B+R first inquired with me, they said they wanted their day to include ‘lots of tequila, tacos and good times’ which I think is something they definitely achieved.
