8 Best Intimate Restaurant Wedding Venues in Vancouver
Vancouver’s food scene is legendary, and its best restaurants are filled with soul, ambiance and an energy that just can’t be manufactured. Choosing a restaurant as your wedding venue means food your guests will rave about for years to come, and a curated atmosphere you can lean into, simplifying your planning experience. Plus, you get a sentimental date spot to return to year after year on your anniversaries!
Here are eight of Vancouver’s best restaurants for an intimate wedding:
Maxine’s Cafe and Bar
As you walk through the doors of Maxine’s Cafe and Bar in Vancouver’s West End, you might think that you’ve wandered into a European corner bistro. The ceilings are high, the windows are massive, and the natural light pours in. When the sun goes down, it transforms into a romantic space to linger with your favourite people. As a photographer, I especially love this venue for bounce flash; your party photos will feel effortlessly cinematic and iconic.
A full buyout of Maxine’s includes use of both the front and side patios, which are celebrated as being among the best in the city. If you’re planning a more intimate wedding, either the private dining room or the enclosed and heated patio can be booked.
Donika and Jordy bought out the entire restaurant for their intimate wedding. They utilized the private dining room for their ceremony, before transitioning to a cocktail-style reception in the main space. While Maxine’s is ideal for a social evening, it also works beautifully for a refined seated dinner. The food here is phenomenal, and no matter your reception style, the staff will work with you to create a curated menu.

Capacity: 80 seated or up to 140 cocktail-style

La Fabrique St. George
La Fabrique St. George is for couples who value the experience of the day. Long wood tables and cozy overstuffed leather couches in front of the fireplace invite you and your guests to gather and savour every moment.
No other Vancouver wedding venue has quite the same industrial, yet rustic and warm feel as La Fabrique St. George. With concrete walls, exposed beams, and the soft glow of candles, it’s a great mix of being a laid‑back wine lounge, art space, live-music venue, and intimate wedding venue for creative and modern couples.
One thing to know about La Fabrique St. George is that there is no full kitchen. You’ll have the option to bring in your own caterer, which allows you to choose whatever cuisine suits your taste! I photographed a wedding here that used Nuba, and it was absolutely delicious!

Capacity: 55 seated or up to 65 for a cocktail reception
Location: Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood
Vibe: Rustic-industrial and intimate
Fiorino
Want an Italian vibe without booking plane tickets? Fiorino is the cutest, authentic Italian street food spot. By day, customers line up for its Schiacciata (Tuscan flatbread) sandwiches, and at night the lights go down, people clink glasses and share Cicchetti (small snacks). While it’s casual, the restaurant holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand.
The space features large windows that let in tons of natural light, and the decor is quirky and colourful! The staff here is incredibly accommodating and kind, and will tailor the food and drink menu to suit your style and preferences. Best of all, there is no rental fee at Fiorino, just a minimum food and beverage spend!
A bonus about this venue is that it’s located right in the heart of Chinatown, so you can do your portraits around the area without having to venture far to get those characteristic and iconic city vibes!

Cafe Medina
This one is for the foodies. Cafe Medina is a Vancouver institution, and having your wedding here is one of the best ways to show your out-of-town guests just how incredible Vancouver’s food scene can be. In addition to their famous Belgian Liège waffles, Cafe Medina is loved for its Mediterranean-inspired fare.
Cafe Medina is typically a brunch spot, and when it comes to planning a wedding, this can definitely work in your favour! Evening weddings here don’t require a full-day buyout, leaving a bit more of your budget to throw an epic party!
The space doesn’t need much; the soaring ceilings, exposed brick, funky upcycled light fixtures, and art deco touches do the work for you. I photographed Katherine and Seamus’ wedding here, and I loved how the space encouraged their guests to flow and mingle during the cocktail-style reception.
Cafe Medina is centrally located in downtown Vancouver, just steps away from tons of urban portrait locations like the Vancouver Art Gallery and Marine Building. It’s also a very easy venue for any out-of-town guests due to its proximity to the SkyTrain and hotels.

Chambar Restaurant
Chambar Restaurant in downtown Vancouver is magnetic, but not at all pretentious, and you’ll feel like you’ve discovered the best hidden gem. The 1912 heritage building has massive arched windows, exposed brick, and enormous timber beams. The lighting is moody and sultry, and the food is delicious. Chambar is known for its Belgian-inspired cuisine, huge selection of Belgian beers, and a curated wine list.
The event space at Chambar Restaurant is a bit of a blank canvas. It can be dressed up anyway you like, or left exactly as is. There are two intimate private dining rooms at the restaurant, a smaller room that’s perfect for micro weddings with 20 guests or less, and a larger private dining room that is well-suited for a ceremony, reception, or both, that can accommodate up to 80 guests for a seated dinner. Chambar Restaurant is also available for a full buyout for large weddings of up to 250 guests. It’s conveniently located right next to the Stadium-Chinatown Skytrain station.

Capacity: 20 in the small private dining room, 80 in the large private dining room, or 250 guests seated for a full buyout
Location: Downtown
Vibe: Magnetic, eclectic, and sultry
Kissa Tanto
As you climb Kissa Tanto’s unassuming tiled stairs, you are transported away from the bustle and grit of Vancouver’s Chinatown back to the jazz cafes of 1960s Japan. Lighting is everything for me, and Kissa Tanto is moodily lit with unique fixtures, giving it a cinematic flair. Lipstick red banquettes, record-lined shelves, and vintage Japanese decor solidify the atmosphere.
If the decor alone wasn’t enough to sell you on getting married at Kissa Tanto, the food should seal the deal. The Michelin-acclaimed restaurant blends Japanese and Italian cuisines in a way that finds the common ground between them. The drinks are just as thoughtful as the food, with a sophisticated Japanese or Italian twist. The restaurant will work with you to plan multi-course meals for a unique culinary event that your guests will remember forever.

Capacity: Up to 60 guests

Belgard Kitchen
One thing you notice immediately upon walking into the Belgard Kitchen’s event space, The Cellar, is the incredible warmth of the venue. While it has a bit of an industrial vibe, absolutely nothing about the space is cold or without personality. Sunbeams stream through the unique wood-framed windows, and an entire wall is occupied by floor-to-ceiling wine barrels. If you like the winery vibe of La Fabrique St. George, but need more space for your party, this is the place. It’s also enough of a blank slate that you can bring your own ideas and decor.
The food here is meant for sharing, and the Belgard Kitchen encourages family-style dinners and also offers passed canapes and grazing boards. The menu leans towards West Coast comfort food, and since the building is also home to Vancouver Urban Winery and Van Urban Beer Co., the food pairs well with both.

Capacity: 150 seated or up to 200 guests for a standing cocktail reception
Location: Railtown
Vibe: Versatile and craft-centric
The Kent
Ok, so The Kent is technically not a restaurant, but I think this intimate Vancouver wedding venue still absolutely deserves a spot on the list. It offers in-house catering and bar, plus the curated art and decor give off a certain unique aesthetic. Just like if you booked a restaurant, this space is ready to be enjoyed, and you won’t need to bring in much decor. It’s centrally located in Downtown Vancouver, making it convenient for city portraits and for your guests!
The Kent is bright, fresh, airy, and minimalistic, while still having a bit of an industrial vibe. Within the venue, there are three unique spaces to utilize for your wedding: The Penthouse, Main Floor, and Gallery. I captured Sharon and Kasra’s wedding here, and they took advantage of the venue's versatility by starting off with a chic cocktail hour before transitioning to a long table seated dinner.

Capacity: 100 for a seated dinner, 125 for a cocktail reception
Location: Downtown Vancouver, close to Gastown
Vibe: Luxe-industrial
